AUBURN HILLS, Mich., October 7, 2008 – On Your Birthday (OYB) has officially gifted 1,000 children since its inception in August 2007.  On July 22, 2008, the company launched its online community of children’s charities that helps individual and corporate donors give unexpected presents to underprivileged, seriously ill, emotionally or physically challenged children in need of birthday cheer.

 

“We are thrilled 1,000 children have received birthday presents because of the many generous donors who gave gifts via www.onyourbirthday.org,” said Tammy Alberts, president of OYB.  “I am always touched when I receive thank you notes from children, like the one from Rachael that said, ‘people like you make cancer patient’s journey a lot better.’  Our organization began as a child’s idea and is based on our belief that every child deserves to feel appreciated and loved on their special day.  During these difficult economic times, we are encouraging everyone to share the gift of birthday joy with children in need.”

 

Each gifted child receives a package with a personalized birthday card and a classic or award-winning book tailored to the child's age and gender, and either a stuffed animal or a gift-card from a national retailer.  Donors can gift a child via OYB in a variety of ways either by choosing a child who shares their birthday or name, choosing a specific charity, or by donating in someone’s honor.
